HEALTH

I just got my blood work. I’m healthy again. I was sick for a year— heart disease, high cholesterol and LDL, and diabetes. Makes me mad because I thought I was eating the right things like lean chicken, turkey, and salmon. Cheating with In-N-Out Burgers on the weekend— but that’s all bullshit. I was carnivore for a couple months.
But those things causes disease. I was never even overweight. The American western diet is toxic. I basically reversed my disease with whole food plant based reading Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn’s book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. The number one killer is heart disease and 80% of Americans have the starting of heart disease after graduating high school.
The countries in the world that live to age 100 called the Blue Zones eat plant based. Like the Okinawa Japanese diet is made up of purple sweet potatoes. Total cholesterol = lower than 150 mg/dl = great. Heart attack = Total cholesterol of 300 mg/dl. LDL less than 80 mg/dL = great. A1C below 5.7% = great. A1C greater 6.4% = diabetes. What are your numbers?
It was a blessing in disguise that I got sick because I wouldn’t have read books, watched documentaries, and did research on health and nutrition. I guess God wants me to live longer for a reason.
Here are resources I researched for a year that helped me get healthy.
Recipes: Whole food plant based
Grateful for Alexandra Andersson from Sweden because she taught me how to cook whole food plant based because I don't know anyone in real life. This is a video of different bowls to put together like a burrito bowl.
Pizza, tuna sandwich, and steak killed me slowly
Everything I learned as a child about healthy eating was all wrong. The American western diet gave me heart disease, high cholesterol and LDL, diabetes. I got healhy from eating whole food plant based. This video should be shown in elementary schools.
Best food documentary to live to age 100
Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the chronic diseases that afflict us can be controlled or even reversed by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. The major storyline traces the personal journeys of Dr. T. Colin Campbell, a nutritional biochemist from Cornell University, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, a former top surgeon at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. On separate paths, their discoveries and groundbreaking research led them to the same startling conclusion: Chronic diseases including heart disease and type 2 diabetes can almost always be prevented—and in many cases reversed—by adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet. The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. The film follows everyday Americans with chronic conditions as they seek to reduce their dependence on medications and learn to use a whole-food, plant-based diet to regain control over their health and their lives.

Focus on “green light” foods and avoiding the “red light” ones
Dr. John McDougall devised a simple system to achieve excellent health - just by focusing on “green light” foods and avoiding the “red light” ones. Dr. McDougall shows how to reverse disease and help ensure longevity - simply by eating beans, corn, pasta potatoes, rice and other starches and veggies, while avoiding or minimizing other foods that can compromise your health.
